A local real estate agent asked me to consult with her clients on choosing a new paint colour for the exterior of their home in preparation to sell the property.
When I arrived at the house my first thought was that the blue was rather adorable and that painting it something more neutral was perhaps not needed to update the home. What I was more concerned with was the curb appeal “or lack there of”. What I did recommend that would prove to be a more wise investment of time, energy and $$ would be on landscaping, the front porch, adding fresh gravel to the driveway, painting the front door a nice grounding black, updating the house numbers and switching out the white mailboxes for black.
The owners trimmed back the trees which in turn opened up the home and added much more light. I had recommended removing the small tree and putting a small garden instead, but I am glad the homeowner opted to give it a huge trim instead as it softens the front of the house and looks great.
The end results are fantastic! The homeowners did an amazing job and the first impression for buyers was one of a fresh, well kept home. First impressions are everything and we only have seconds to make a good one.
The house hit the market and they received 4 offers and accepted one which is currently conditional.
